Amazon DynamoDB cost saving tips Optimize your Amazon DynamoDB costs with these tips

#1

Monitor usage and costs

Regularly check your DynamoDB usage and costs with AWS Cost Explorer. Unused tables and indices might be taking up capacity and can be deleted to reduce costs.

#2

Use On-Demand Mode

For non-critical workloads, opt for on-demand mode instead of provisioned mode. This avoids over-provisioning of capacity and you only pay for what you use.

#3

Apply Auto Scaling

DynamoDB's auto scaling feature dynamically adjusts read/write capacity based on workload. Avoids over-provisioning and lowers costs.

About Alex I am your AWS cost saving guru, ready to slash your AWS costs!

As a CTO at various start-ups and scale-ups, I've seen too often how AWS costs can sneak up on you. It used to be something we'd only think about when there was a problem—either it wasn't working like we needed it to, or the expenses were through the roof. I took my know-how in AWS and made it my goal to change that. Now, I use a simple rule to make a big impact: focus on the few changes that make the biggest difference in cutting costs.

I look at your AWS bills with a fine-tooth comb and find where you can save money without losing performance. It's about being smart with your resources and making sure AWS works for you, not against you. By doing this, I help your teams do more with less, and make sure we keep your cloud spending in check.

Amazon DynamoDB pricing

DynamoDB provides two payment plans: on-demand and provisioned capacity modes. The former involves charging for table reads/writes, adjusted per your workload, while the latter lets you set desired reads/writes per second, with auto scaling. Costs can be estimated using the AWS Pricing Calculator. Optimizing costs can be achieved by selecting the correct table class and using cost allocation tags. DynamoDB includes a free tier offering 25GB storage plus 25 provisioned Read/Write Capacity Units.
